I have just installed the AndEngine and some examples work fine, but some doesn't, especially text examples. Does anyone found a solution for this problem?

thanks in advance.

I personally have never been able to get those particular examples to work. Has anybody else?

I´ve the same problem with you especially on the latest andengine revision 317.
Maybe this is bugs and previously i got all example working fine with andengine revision 303.
So, here i´ll listing the example that doesn´t work for me in the latest andengine :

1.TerxturePacker example
2.Snake
3.Using ColorKerTextureSourceDecorator
4.Using RepeatingSpriteBackground
5.All TextExample
6.EaseFunction
7.Path Modifier example

I didn't bother reading the whole discussion here, but the prebuilded lib url is broken. Can anyone post a new one? I don't really feel like installing github..

Hi,

I'm new to Java and Android, and I have no idea what's mercurial (I installed but don't know how to use it), and don't know how to download the engine source... any help would be apreciated.

Thanks!

Hi jbosch,
Currently there are two versions of Andengine. You can learn how to install the old version (GLES1) by watching my tutorials. As for the new version (GLES2), I will be making new tutorial videos in a couple weeks, but in the meantime you can learn about the new version here:

Let me know if this was helpful :)

This tutorial finally got AndEngine running on my setup after ditching the Mercurial-way. Thanks.

Question: Is there a particular reason for having no javadocs or API-docs at all in the libs?

Greetings! I hope it's OK to ask n00bish questions in this thread. I surfed several tutorials, but didn't found answers, also most of them are dated 2010, and lot of code doesn't work before tuning it.
First my question is about Camera. Only fact i ve found that it is "the rectangle of the scene that is drawn on the screen". So, Scene can be unlimited size, and Camera displays it part. In what dimension Camera and Scene size is? In fact i still dont understand this mechanics: we have 3 things: 1) real screen, which resolution and proportions are differ with each device 2) Camera 3) Scene. How these things sizes correlate with each other?

Also what about android native mechanics with various (hdpi \ mdpi \ ldpi) images on different devices, does AndEngine use it somehow?
