Draw Circle around Sprite?

I've searched the forums and Google and still can't find out the proper solution..
I am trying to make it to where when I touch a sprite, it draws a 50% transparent circle around the sprite. I already have the touch event ready, I just need the code to draw the circle around the sprite.

I don't know much about GLES1, but I expect its got similar examples - checkout the PolygonExample in the AE examples - they draw an Ellipse in there.
