SpriteGroup and AndEngineTexturePackerExtension

Postby drderico » Wed Nov 30, 2011 8:06 am

Hi!

I use SpriteGroup in my game. All works fine.
Today I started using TexturePacker. And now all sprites in SpriteGroup are not displayed - there are black rectangles instead.

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. new SpriteGroup(GfxAssets.Texture2, 1000);
Parsed in 0.010 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

Before using TexturePackerExt, Texture2 was a BitmapTextureAtlas, and now it's a ITexture:

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. _TexturePack = textureLoader.loadFromAsset(main, "t2.xml");
  2. ITexture Texture2 = _TexturePack.getTexture();
Parsed in 0.010 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

Also i tried to use this variant:

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. _TexturePack = textureLoader.loadFromAsset(main, "t2.xml");
  2. BitmapTexture Texture2 = (BitmapTexture) _TexturePack.getTexture();
Parsed in 0.010 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

What should I do with Texture2 to start SpriteGroup working properly?
Thank you

I would like to try using spritegroups myself, but havent yet.

But I have seen one colored squares appear instead of whatever should have been in a texture before. I am guessing something got wrong with the texture. Like maybe it did not get loaded into the memory as it should. Usually when it happens to me, its because I thought I would just test with a different texture to do something else, and then I forgot to add it at the texture loading part. Which is a bit like forgetting to attach a sprite to the scence, but you probably already know that.

Please let me know if that works, because I have not tried using texture compression before either. I have read that it can cause a lot of trouble though, since it might have to be device specific to some extend.

Hi,

I have the same problem when using SpriteGroup and a texture packer made texturesheet. All sprites are appearing as black rectangles.

Does anybody have a solution for this?

thanks

I found the best solution - now I'm using GLES2 :) All works fine there
